Jane Bick Interiors, formerly known as “Jane Bick Seamstress”, is a husband and wife partnership – Jane and Andrew Whitcher. We each offer over 25 years' experience in producing high quality bespoke furniture, upholstery, interior design and soft furnishings.

We believe we use all of our expertise to produce interior designs, furniture or curtains that are unique to our client’s requirements. Interior design is not about creating a perfect show house - it is about getting to know your needs and understand the ways in which the room in question will be used; interpreting your ideas and bringing them to life, so that we can create a space that is perfect for you - a room that reflects your personality and taste, not ours! 

Upholstery and custom-made, bespoke Furniture

Our care and attention to detail with antiques, ensures that all are reupholstered in the traditional manner, with hair and fibre stuffing. The frame can also be re-polished to its former glory.  Finishing touches are important; the wrong choice of studs or braid could ruin a beautiful piece of furniture.

Emphasis is on quality within all aspects of upholstery from treasured antiques to boat interiors.   Family heirlooms or even a new made to measure sofa can have comfort and good looks, with style that will last.  Working within existing schemes reupholstering an old sofa can give a whole new look to a room, which we can enhance by adapting curtains or blinds and adding cushions or a lamp.

The perfect addition to any interior is a beautiful hand built chair or sofa. All our made to measure chairs and sofas are made with a beech hard wood frame and then fully sprung in a style chosen from our large range of designs, or we can build a bespoke design to your needs. It can then be upholstered in a fabric to your specification selected from our range of top brand fabric designers.  To complete your sofa we have a wide choice of feathers, high-density foam for long-life with a soft foam layer for comfort or polyester - You choose your preferred type of cushion fillings to create a sofa that is absolutely yours!

Interior Designs

There is a wide variety of fabrics on the market, which can make it hard for you to decide your interior design without some guidance.  Choosing the right type of window treatment is important, as is the best type of fabric to suit the style.  With our knowledge and experience, we can help you with these choices and then select the wallpapers or paint to perfectly compliment the fabrics you have chosen.  Then adding in lighting solutions, rugs or artwork – we can incorporate your favourite items - remember these do not have to be new!  By applying the right solution, we can help create the perfect atmosphere and complete the transformation.

We also undertake commercial work [architects, property developers etc], to help achieve the interior style and furnishing solutions all within budget constraints. 

Period work is our specialty; and although Gloucestershire is our base, distance is no object, with our work taking us from the Lake District to Austria!
